Nerve Injuries

Upper and lower extremities may be damaged due to the various causes such as falling, hitting, fracture, burning, and injury from sharp objects and firearms. Nerve injuries can consist loss of strength, immobility, deformity and partial loss of functions as well as paralysis. If nerve didn’t lose its integrity completely or surgery enabled the nerve endings to couple up again, nerve regenerates itself starting from the top. In this process, joints and muscles should be safeguarded until the regeneration process is accomplished in order to regain lost functions. This can be ensured by means of a rehabilitation program that is planned in compliance with patient’s condition. Primarily, rehabilitation program is composed of patient training, training of senses and muscles, and splinting.
