Botox (Botulinum Toxin)

Botox (Botulinum Toxin)

Botulinum toxin A treats the increased muscle stiffness by blocking the transmission of stimulation carried by nerves to muscles.

Who can benefit from Botox Treatment

Our physicians at Fizikon administer botulinum toxin A (Botox, Dysport) with EMG or Ultrasound guidance for the patients who have:

  • Post-stroke spasticity and pain
  • Cerebral palsy (CP)
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Therefore, our patients’ adaptation to physical therapy and exercises increase. Pain is relieved, and a more proper gait is obtained. For example, a child with CP who walks on the balls of the feet can achieve a more proper gait with suitable shoes and rehabilitation following the Botox injections. Patients who experience challenges in their movements of shoulder, elbow and hands due the spasticity are able to move and use their arms and hands easier after the Botox injections.
